ஆனாலும் நாளை இந்நேரத்தில் என் ஊழியக்காரரை உன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்புவேன்; அவர்கள் உன் வீட்டையும் உன் ஊழியக்காரரοன் வீடுகளையும் சோதித்து, உன் கàύணுக்குப͠பிРοயமானவைΕள் எல்லாவற்றையும் தங்கள் கைகளில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோவார்கள் என்றார் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

பின்பு, ரெபெக்காள் வீட்டிலே தன்னிடத்தில் இருந்த தன் மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏசாவின் நல்ல வஸ்திரங்களை எடுத்து, தன் இளைய மகனாகிய யாக்கோபுக்கு உடுத்தி,

எபிரெயர் பட்டயங்களையாகிலும் ஈட்டிகளையாகிலும் உண்டுபண்ணாதபடிக்குப் பார்த்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும் என்று பெலிஸ்தர் சொல்லியிருந்தபடியால், இஸ்ரவேல் தேசத்தில் எங்கும் ஒரு கொல்லன் அகப்படவில்லை.

அப்பொழுது தாவீது கர்த்தரை நோக்கி: கொடிய இடுக்கணில் அகப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன், இப்போது நாம் கர்த்தருடைய கையிலே விழுவோமாக; அவருடைய இரக்கங்கள் மகா பெரியது; மனுஷர் கையிலே விழாதிருப்பேனாக என்றான்.

எசேக்கியாவின் சொல்லைக் கேளாதிருங்கள்; அசீரியா ராஜா சொல்லுகிறதாவது: நீங்கள் என்னோடே ராசியாகி, காணிக்கையோடே என்னிடத்தில் வாருங்கள்; நான் வந்து, உங்களை உங்கள் தேசத்துக்கு ஒப்பான தானியமும் திராட்சத்தோட்டமுமுள்ள தேசமும், அப்பமும் திராட்சரசமுமுள்ள தேசமும், ஒலிவ எண்ணெயும் தேனுமுள்ள தேசமுமாகிய சீமைக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோகுமளவும்,

விக்கிரகங்களை உருவாக்குகிற யாவரும் வீணர்; அவர்களால் இச்சிக்கப்பட்டவைகள் ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாது; அவைகள் ஒன்றும் காணாமலும், ஒன்றும் அறியாமலும் இருக்கிறதென்று தங்களுக்கு வெட்கமுண்டாக அவைகளுக்குத் தாங்களே சாட்சிகளாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

மேய்ப்பர்களே, அலறுங்கள்; மந்தையில் பிரஸ்தாபமானவர்களே, சாம்பலில் புரண்டு கதறுங்கள்; நீங்கள் வெட்டப்படவும் சிதறடிக்கப்படவும் உங்கள் நாட்கள் நிறைவேறின; உச்சிதமான பாத்திரம்போல் விழுந்து நொறுங்குவீர்கள்.

தனக்குச் சிறுமையும் தவிப்பும் உண்டாகிய நாட்களிலே எருசலேம் பூர்வநாட்கள் முதற்கொண்டு தனக்கு உண்டாயிருந்த இன்பமானவைகளையெல்லாம் நினைக்கிறாள்; அவளுக்கு உதவிசெய்வார் இல்லாமல் அவளுடைய ஜனங்கள் சத்துருவின் கையிலே விழுகையில், பகைஞர் அவளைப் பார்த்து, அவளுடைய ஓய்வுநாட்களைக் குறித்துப் பரியாசம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

அவளுடைய இன்பமான எல்லாவற்றின்மேலும் சத்துரு தன் கையை நீட்டினான்; உம்முடைய சபையிலே வரலாகாதென்று தேவரீர் விலக்கிய புறஜாதியார் உமது பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்துக்குள் பிரவேசித்ததைக் கண்டாள்.

இவன் சகோதரருக்குள்ளே ஜனம்பெருத்தவனாயிருந்தாலும், கர்த்தருடைய காற்றாகிய கீழ்க்காற்று வனாந்தரத்திலிருந்து எழும்பிவரும்; அதனால் அவனுடைய ஊற்றுகள் வற்றிப்போகும்; அவனுடைய துரவு சுவறிப்போகும்; அது இச்சிக்கப்படத்தக்க சகல பதார்த்தங்களுள்ள உத்தம பதார்த்தங்களையும் வாரிக்கொண்டுபோகும்.

நீங்கள் என் வெள்ளியையும் என் பொன்னையும் எடுத்து, இன்பமும் உச்சிதமுமான என் பொருள்களை உங்கள் கோவில்களிலே கொண்டுபோய்,
