4 பின்பு தாவீது இஸ்ரவேல் அனைத்தோடுங்கூட எபூசாகிய எருசலேமுக்குப் போனான்; எபூசியர் அத்தேசத்தின் குடிகளாயிருந்தார்கள்.
5 அப்பொழுது எபூசின் குடிகள் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீ இதற்குள் பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை என்றார்கள்; ஆனாலும் தாவீது சீயோன் கோட்டையைப் பிடித்தான்; அது தாவீதின் நகரமாயிற்று.
6 எபூசியரை முறிய அடிக்கிறதில் எவன் முந்தினவனாயிருக்கிறானோ, அவன் தலைவனும் சேனாபதியுமாயிருப்பானென்று தாவீது சொல்லியிருந்தான்; செருயாவின் குமாரனாகிய யோவாப் முந்தி ஏறித் தலைவனானான்.
7 தாவீது அந்தக் கோட்டையில் வாசம்பண்ணினபடியினால், அது தாவீதின் நகரம் என்னப்பட்டது.
8 பிற்பாடு அவன் நகரத்தை மில்லோ தொடங்கிச் சுற்றிலும் கட்டினான்; யோவாப் நகரத்தின் மற்ற இடங்களைப் பழுதுபார்த்தான்.
9 தாவீது நாளுக்குநாள் விருத்தியடைந்தான்; சேனைகளுடைய கர்த்தர் அவனோடேகூட இருந்தார்.
4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city.
9 So David waxed greater and greater: for the Lord of hosts was with him.
