1 யோபு பிரதியுத்தரமாக:
2 நீங்கள் எந்தமட்டும் என் ஆத்துமாவை வருத்தப்படுத்தி, வார்த்தைகளினால் என்னை நொறுக்குவீர்கள்?
3 இப்போது பத்துதரம் என்னை நிந்தித்தீர்கள்; நீங்கள் எனக்குக் கடினமுகம் காண்பிக்கிறதினால் உங்களுக்கு வெட்கமில்லை.
4 நான் தப்பிநடந்தது மெய்யானாலும், என் தப்பிதம் என்னோடேதான் இருக்கிறது.
5 நீங்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாகப் பெருமைபாராட்டி, எனக்கு நிந்தையாக என்னைக் கடிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டும் என்றிருப்பீர்களாகில்,
6 தேவன் என்னைக் கவிழ்த்து தம்முடைய வலையை என்மேல் வீசினார் என்று அறியுங்கள்.
7 இதோ, கொடுமை என்று கூப்பிடுகிறேன், கேட்பார் ஒருவரும் இல்லை; கூக்குரலிடுகிறேன், நியாய விசாரணை இல்லை.
8 நான் கடந்துபோகக் கூடாதபடிக்கு அவர் என் பாதையை வேலியடைத்து என் வழிகளை இருளாக்கிவிட்டார்.
9 என்னிலிருந்த என் மகிமையை அவர் உரிந்துகொண்டு, என் சிரசின் கிரீடத்தை எடுத்துப்போட்டார்.
10 அவர் என்னை நான்குபுறத்திலும் நாசமாக்கினார், நான் அற்றுப்போகிறேன்; என் நம்பிக்கையை ஒரு செடியைப்போலப் பிடுங்கிப்போட்டார்.
11 அவர் தமது கோபத்தை என்மேல் எரியப்பண்ணினார், என்னைத் தம்முடைய சத்துருக்களில் ஒருவனாக எண்ணிக்கொள்ளுகிறார்.
12 அவருடைய தண்டுப்படைகள் ஏகமாய் வந்து, எனக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தங்கள் வழியை உயர்த்தி, என் கூடாரத்தைச் சுற்றிப் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.
13 என் சகோதரரை என்னைவிட்டுத் தூரப்படுத்தினார்; எனக்கு அறிமுகமானவர்கள் எனக்கு அந்நியராய்ப்போனார்கள்.
14 என் பந்துஜனங்கள் விலகிப்போனார்கள்; என் சிநேகிதர் என்னை மறந்துவிட்டார்கள்.
15 என் வீட்டு ஜனங்களும், என் வேலைக்காரிகளும், என்னை அந்நியராய் எண்ணுகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் பார்வைக்கு நான் பரதேசியானேன்.
16 நான் என் வேலைக்காரனைக் கூப்பிடுகிறபோது அவன் எனக்கு உத்தரவு கொடான்; என் வாயினால் நான் அவனைக் கெஞ்சவேண்டியதாயிற்று.
17 என் சுவாசம் என் மனைவிக்கு வேறுபட்டிருக்கிறது; என் கர்ப்பத்தின் பிள்ளைகளுக்காகப் பரிதபிக்கிறேன்.
18 சிறுபிள்ளைகளும் என்னை அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறார்கள்; நான் எழுந்தால், அவர்கள் எனக்கு விரோதமாய்ப பேசுகிறார்கள்.
19 என் பிராண சிநேகிதர் எல்லாரும் என்னை வெறுக்கிறார்கள்; நான் சிநேகித்தவர்கள் எனக்கு விரோதிகளானார்கள்.
20 என் எலும்புகள் என் தோலோடும் என் மாம்சத்தோடும் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது, என் பற்களை மூடக் கொஞ்சம் தோல்மாத்திரம் தப்பினது.
21 என் சிநேகிதரே, எனக்கு இரங்குங்கள், எனக்கு இரங்குங்கள்; தேவனுடைய கை என்னைத் தொட்டது.
22 தேவனைப்போல நீங்களும் என்னைத் துன்பப்படுத்துவானேன்? என் மாம்சம் பட்சிக்கப்பட்டாலும் நீங்கள் திருப்தியற்றிருக்கிறதென்ன?
23 ஆ, நான் இப்பொழுது சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகள் எழுதப்பட்டால் நலமாயிருக்கும்; அவைகள் ஒரு புஸ்தகத்தில் வரையப்பட்டு,
24 அல்லது என்றைக்கும் நிலைக்க அவைகள் கருங்கல்லிலே உளிவெட்டாகவும் சுய எழுத்தாகவும் பதிந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.
25 என் மீட்பர் உயிரோடிருக்கிறார் என்றும், அவர் கடைசிநாளில் பூமியின்மேல் நிற்பார் என்றும் நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்.
26 இந்த என் தோல் முதலானவை அழுகிப்போனபின்பு, நான் என் மாம்சத்தில் இருந்து தேவனைப் பார்ப்பேன்.
27 அவரை நானே பார்ப்பேன்; அந்நிய கண்கள் அல்ல, என் கண்களே அவரைக் காணும்; இந்த வாஞ்சையால் உள்ளிந்திரியங்கள் எனக்குள் சோர்ந்து போகிறது.
28 காரியத்தின் மூலம் எனக்குள் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்படுகையில், நாம் ஏன் அவனைத் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறோம் என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லவேண்டியதாமே.
1 Then Job answered and said,
2 How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
3 These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
4 And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5 If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
6 Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
8 He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
11 He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
12 His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
14 My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15 They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
17 My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.
18 Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
19 All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
22 Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
28 But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?
1 And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.
2 And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.
3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth-el, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Hai;
4 Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
5 And Lot also, which went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents.
6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
8 And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren.
9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
18 Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord.
